OPEN TO Frankenstein’s monster strapped to a metallic gurney held by chains. Frankenstein’s monster begins to descend on the gurney towards the ground below…

DR. FRANKENSTEIN (V.O.)
I was working in the lab late one night. When my eyes beheld an eerie sight. For my monster from his slab began to rise…

Lightning rages in the sky above; lighting up Frankenstein’s monster as he opens his eyes and turns his head.

DR. FRANKENSTEIN (V.O.)
And suddenly to my surprise…

Frankenstein’s monster makes his iconic groaning noise.

VOICES (O.S.)
He did the mash!

CLOSE UP on Frankenstein’s monster staring towards the screen.

FRANKENSTEIN’S MONSTER
I did the monster mash!

Begin to dolly out to reveal that we are in a themed haunted house restaurant known as ‘Jekyll and Hyde.’

INT. JEKYLL AND HYDE RESTAURANT- SECOND FLOOR

The balcony looking out over the live animatronic performance is amazing! The performance continues as we see…

Dean and Sam seated dead front in the very center overlooking the entire four-floor performance. Dean grins…

DEAN
Cool.

Sam, on the other hand, rolls his eyes.

SAM
Dean, what are we doing here?

Dean looks at Sam caught off guard.

DEAN
Hmm?

SAM
What are we doing here?

Dean looks down at his food and back towards the live entertainment.

DEAN
Having some good ol’ quality time… ever since you got back, all we’ve been doing is hunting one thing after the next.

SAM
Exactly! And that’s what we should be doing right now! People are dying out there Dean…

DEAN
And you don’t think I know that?! Point of the matter is you’re obviously not ready Sam. After what happened back in Pleasant Hills Park.

SAM
I didn’t kill that guy!

DEAN
No… but you were going to. That right there tells me that you’re falling apart.

Sam sighs and rolls his eyes…

DEAN
I’m not going to make the same mistake twice.
(beat)
I’m here for you man, you know that?

Sam nods his head…

DEAN
What happened to you? When you were…

Before Sam could reply they are interrupted by…

WAITRESS
Welcome to ‘Jekyll and Hyde,’ my name is Christine and I’ll be your waitress for the evening… have you had a chance to glance over your menus?

DEAN
Yeah, we have… I’m going to have the Monster Burger and a Cannibal Caffeine.
(imitating Hannibal)
Perhaps with a side of Fava Beans…

The waitress giggles as she turns to Sam…

WAITRESS
And what would you like this evening?

SAM
(emotionless)
Soup of the day and water…

WAITRESS
Okay, if there’s anything else you guys need… just let me know.

DEAN
Will do…

Dean checks out their waitress as she walks off.

DEAN
Man, she is hot!

Dean looks back over towards Sam.

DEAN
So… what happened to you Sam?

SAM
Nothing… nothing at all.

Dean looks at his brother concerned…

EXT. OAKS ALLEY- NIGHT

We see DOUG, Dog D, walking through an alleyway. From the way he was dressed it's obvious that he's homeless. He stops by a fire to get warm and continues on his way.

VOICE
Doug...

Doug stops looks around. Where is that voice coming from? Cold shivers runs down his spine. He wraps his arms around his chest. Trying to get warm.

VOICE
Doug...

CLANK! We see a garbage can behind him PLUMMET to the ground.

Doug jumps out of fright and takes off running down another alley. Scared as hell. We see shadows forming on the wall, following him. Doug comes across a dead end. He stops looks everywhere.

DOUG
Shit.

He feels a presence from behind.

POV. SPIRIT

He stares, frightened to death.

DOUG
(caught off guard)
No...

Doug is FLUNG against the wall. CRACK! His skull cracks upon impact. Blood drips down from his head as...

FAST CUTS. Obscured vision. A street sign: Oaks Street. A blinding white light encompasses the screen.

INT. MOTEL

CLOSE UP on Sam's eyes snapping open.

SAM
Agh!!!

Sam grasps his head in pain. Another headache. Another nightmare. He glances over towards Dean… fast asleep.

Sam quietly gets out of bed and gets dressed. He grabs the keys to the Impala and leaves the room glancing behind his back to find Dean still fast asleep. Sam closes the door behind him.

EXT. MOTEL- NIGHT

Sam gets into the Impala revs the engine and drives off to the sound of “Animal I have Become” by Three Days Grace.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY- HIGHWAY

The Impala SPEEDS towards the screen.

Sam stares towards the road ahead focused on the mission at hand. Intense. Driven.

The light reflects giving Sam somewhat of a demonic appearance.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY- ESTABLISHING SHOT

We look down on New York City seeing the lights of the city at night… the lights begin to blur together as we…

FAST CUT:
EXT. NEW YORK CITY- STREETS

ANGLE DOWN towards the streets from far above to see the cars driving below.

We begin to PLUMMET towards the ground below to reveal… the Impala speeding through the streets rapidly changing sides as it rockets forward!

INT. IMPALA

Sam stares towards the screen, seeing nothing but the mission ahead.

FAST CUT:
EXT. NEW YORK CITY- OAKS STREET ALLEYWAY

The Impala arrives at its destination. Quiet. Not a soul in sight. We see the street sign. 'Oaks Street'.

INT. IMPALA

Sam stops the car and quickly gets out…

EXT. NEW YORK CITY- OAKS STREET ALLEYWAY

Sam runs down the alley. He sees blood against the pavement and runs towards it. He stops.

SAM
I’m too late…

POV. SAM
We see Doug splattered against the ground… dead. BLOOD EVERYWHERE!

SAM (V.O.)
People are dying out there Dean…

DEAN (V.O.)
And you don’t think I know that?! Point of the matter is you’re obviously not ready Sam.

Sam shakes his head no, angry…

SAM
I am ready.

ANGLE UP from the ground to see Sam walking off into the distance fading out of sight and into the darkness…

SUPERNATURAL: AWAKENING

EXT. MOTEL- MORNING

ESTABLISHING SHOT of the Motel on just a regular Sunday morning.

INT. MOTEL ROOM

Dean slowly begins to wake up; he gets out of bed and looks down towards Sam fast asleep. He smiles as he slowly walks out of the room and closes the door behind him.

EXT. MOTEL

Dean glances back towards the motel room and grins as he shakes his head.

DEAN
About god damn time you got a good night’s sleep.

Dean walks off.

INT. MOTEL ROOM

Sam’s eyes snap open as he quickly sits up in bed and looks around. Dean is gone. He gets out of bed revealing that he is still in the same clothes from the previous night.

INT. MOTEL DINER

Dean sits down at a bar stool at the diner. A DINER WAITRESS approaches him.

DINER WAITRESS
Hi there.

DEAN
Hey.

DINER WAITRESS
Have a good night’s sleep?

DEAN
Yeah, you could say that.

DINER WAITRESS
That’s good, how may I help you this morning?

DEAN
Pancakes and milk.

DINER WAITRESS
Pancakes and milk coming right up!

DEAN
Thanks.

Dean glances out of the window of the diner and sees the Impala parked right where it was last night…

Sam enters the diner. Dean acknowledges his entrance with a wide grin.

DEAN
Sammy! Grab a seat… just about to start eating a good hearty breakfast.

Sam sits down besides his brother acting more friendly than natural lately…

SAM
You know, I’ve been thinking… maybe you’re right- this whole hunting thing it is way too soon. I need a break. Some down time…

DEAN
You see now there’s the Sam I know. Glad to have you back.

SAM
Yeah, so, um, mind if I take the Impala out for a drive?

Dean looks at Sam curious and caught off guard.

DEAN
A ride?

Sam nods.

DEAN
Where to?

SAM
Nowhere, just take a drive… need some alone time, that’s all- promise.
(cracks a fake grin)
Don’t worry. I’ll bring it back in one piece.

Dean laughs as he thinks about it and decides to hand the keys over to Sam.

DEAN
It better be.

Sam grabs the keys and exits the diner.

Dean watches out the window as Sam enters the Impala and drives off.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY (TAKING BACK CONTROL BY SPARTA)

The Impala drives through the crowded city of New York City.

INT. IMPALA

Sam looks out the windows pained and trapped in his memories…

POV. SAM
We see young romantic couples walking along the sidewalks hand in hand. Couples kissing.

We see a tear roll down Sam’s eyes he quickly wipes it away and turns up the volume.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY

The Impala speeds off through the streets of New York City weaving in and out of traffic.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY- OAKS STREET ALLEYWAY

The Impala arrives at Oak Street and pulls over to the side. Sam steps out and approaches the crime scene.

EXT. OAKS ALLEY

A female police offer, MEGAN, looks over the dead body. She's happy this man is dead. Sam approaches her. She takes notice.

MEGAN
Excuse me, this is a sealed off crime scene.

Sam quickly shows Megan his police badge.

SAM
Any idea how he died?

Megan shakes her head no.

MEGAN
Best guess, he slipped.

SAM
Slipped?

MEGAN
Yeah, you ask me, this guy deserved a more painful death.

Sam looks at Megan caught off guard.

SAM
Why would you say that?

MEGAN
Guy was a scumbag.

SAM
How so?

MEGAN
He went in and out prison numerous times. He just got out a couple of days ago.

SAM
What was he in for?

MEGAN
Assisting in the rape and murder of a young girl.

FLASH CUT:
EXT. ALLEY- FLASHBACK

DOUG approaches MELANIE, a young woman in her mid twenties, from behind, cloaked in shadow. He wraps his arms around her and presses a blade against her throat.

FLASH CUT:
EXT. NEW YORK CITY- OAKS STREET ALLEYWAY

SAM
What's the guy's name?

MEGAN
Doug Wiseman, but his street name was Dog D.

SAM
Thank you for your time.

Sam walks off and gets back into the Impala.

INT. IMPALA

Sam stares out towards the road and considers the information at hand.

SAM
(thinking aloud)
Assisted murder and rape… could be a vengeful spirit…
(beat)
Definitely.

Sam revs up the engine of the Impala and speeds off.

INT. MOTEL ROOM

Dean lies on his bed watching Looney Tunes on the television set and laughing hysterically while eating cheese doodles.

Sam slowly enters the room. Dean glances over towards him.

DEAN
Hey.

SAM
Hey.

DEAN
Have a good time?

Sam nods.

SAM
Yeah, just needed to clear my head.

DEAN
Glad you’re not fighting me on this one…

SAM
I trust your judgment.

Sam sets the keys down and sits down on his bed.

SAM
So, what are you watching?

DEAN
Looney Tunes. There’s a marathon on. Didn’t see them in a longtime, forgot how funny they were.

SAM
Yeah…

Dean extends the bag of cheese doodles to Sam.

DEAN
Cheese doodle?

Sam shakes his head no.

SAM
No thanks.

Dean shrugs as he continues to eat.

DEAN
Your loss…

EXT. ALLEY- NIGHT

ANGLE DOWN to see JOE sitting by a fire. Warming his hands. It's a foggy night. An old HOMELESS MAN sits opposite him.

HOMELESS MAN
Cold night out tonight.

Joe nods.

JOE
You got that right, old man.

VOICE
Joe...

Joe looks around.

JOE
You hear that?

HOMELESS MAN
Hear what?

JOE
That... that voice...

VOICE
Joe...

HOMELESS MAN
What voice?

Joe looks at the homeless man, afraid. He looks into the fog. We see Melanie in the fog. Approaching him. Joe stands up, afraid.

JOE
No, you're, you're dead!!!

Homeless Man looks at Joe like he's crazy.

JOE
(to HOMELESS MAN)
Don't you see that?

HOMELESS MAN
See what?

JOE
Her! Her!!!

FLASH CUT:
EXT. ALLEY- FLASHBACK

Joe GRABS Melanie and RAMS her into the wall. She begins to bleed.

FLASH CUT:
EXT. ALLEY

Joe is sent back hurtling against the wall. His skull CRACKS upon impact. The fog begins to go away. The Homeless Man watches on, afraid.
